2021年11月11日Kuran-sâ-pèvôdôm-nâbôsskî, meaning "the handwriting of the prophet Moses" is a form of proto-Arabic script that developed into the present day Arabic script. It was used by Muslims in parts of Persia before it fell into disuse with the advent of calligraphy in the 8th century.
This blog post will cover some interesting facts about this rare type of Arabic language and its development, including information on how it works and what makes it different from other scripts to preserve its authenticity. It will also cover some of the older forms of Arabic script that are either abandoned or used in limited ways by modern calligraphers. This includes the Kadîtî manuscript which was written by an Arabic calligrapher using Kanbun script.
The Kuran Sûrih manuscript is a fragment of a Islamic text, a Qur’ân written in a variant form of Kanbun script, which was found in a library in Mosul, Iraq. It has been dated to the 10th century and is written in Kufic style with numerous ligatures and kufi kabîr (double connecting) letters. The script is fairly large, with 27 letters, making it one of the oldest forms of Arabic calligraphy.
Some linguists have argued that the script is an early variant of Naskh, although others have used it as an example for a "new" script, or one very close to Katabí. The latter view was supported by the simple structure of many characters and letters, which may easily be confused with Naskh. It has also been compared to medieval Spanish manuscripts Farsi Arabic scripts which are still attested in Catalonia.
The script was discovered by Andrew Melville Bell during his archeological excavations in Mosul between 1888-95. The script is also mentioned in the book "Al-Jazari’s Book of Knowledge" published in 1905, but not much is known about it until the 1930s when Abdalqadir El-Wahed wrote about the script in his book "History of Calligraphy".
The script was last seen in use by calligraphers in 1992 for a Qur’ân recitation contest held by the Royal Society for Public Health Islamabad. The text was written with black ink on light brown paper. The script had some similarities to the 17th-century Farsi or Persian script used in some modern Persian calligraphy.
Below are some attempts at reproducing the script with Roman letters.
Kadîtî, meaning "old" in Arabic, is a variant of the Naskh script used on paper made by an Arabic calligrapher in the 17th century. The scribe was probably copying books or documents out of his own library. The language is mostly Farsi with some words written in Arabic, but it has many unique signs of its own design. 168eeb4e9f3273
